Links with Industry

Our extensive links with industry allow us, where possible, to place Frampton students in real on-set work experience environments whilst studying.

"I liked how we got “real” jobs throughout the course; you always learn more when you’re put to the test. Having numerous jobs, made me grow more and become more confident so when I was out on my own, it didn’t come as a huge shock." Natalie Dowell, Frampton graduate and Owner of NCDdesigns

While not guaranteed, unpaid work provides students with both the industry contacts and a basis to start their technician portfolio. It is important to note that make-up is a freelance industry and as such, no training institute can guarantee work during the course, not even the Frampton Institute. However, our extensive contacts and reputation within the industry mean that driven students are rarely without opportunities to practice their skills in a real work environment.

Film and television industry job opportunities present regularly, and Frampton students can stay continually in the know through the Frampton Forum which lists current jobs, industry contacts, and industry news and gossip.

What the industry has to say...

"Highway 7 recently contacted the Frampton Institute to secure a make-up artist for a key fashion shoot. Highway 7 is one of the most successful young Australian labels, and our spring/summer 2008 collection shoot was extremely important as the images will be released globally to leading fashion industry buyers and to editors and stylists from the world’s top magazines. When we put together the team for the shoot we were insistent that only the best would do. Peter Frampton’s reputation made us confident that a graduate recommended by his Institute would be one of the best make-up artists in the industry. The make-up artist, Michelle Hargreaves of Mish Mash Make-Up, who we secured through the institute exceeded our expectations.

"Michelle was extremely professional through every stage of the shoot: she communicated well with the artistic director and prepared excellent pre-shoot notes, complete with visual story boards and in-depth written specifications of each look. Michelle attended a pre-shoot planning meeting where she presented her ideas and she also discussed a timeline and shot plan with the other members of the team, including the photographer and hair stylists to ensure that best use was made of our time throughout the day. On the day Michelle was an extremely valuable member of the team, arriving promptly for the pre-dawn call time and working in an organised and professional manner throughout the day and through into the night. Michelle was excellent on location, working in a variety of conditions including meeting the challenges of outdoor and even night-time retouches. Michelle’s contribution helped to ensure that the images produced were of an extremely high standard, we were extremely pleased with the photographs from the shoot and have received very positive feedback from leading people in the industry who have complimented the excellent standard of the work. Michelle was a pleasure to work with and was popular with every member of the team. Highway 7 will continue to work with the Frampton Institute and would be happy to recommend your students to work with make-up for the fashion industry." Jay Lewis, CEO Highway 7
